Spend four hours chasing the Northern Lights around Ylläs with an English-speaking photography guide. Travel about 200 km by bus to several dark viewing spots, learn low-light camera tips, enjoy hot drinks and gingerbread, and receive a link to photos taken during the evening. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
You’ll put on a full-body rescue suit in a warm cabin, walk to an ice hole, and float safely in a frozen lake near Ylläs. English-speaking guides provide instruction, then serve hot drinks by a campfire. Clear skies may bring stars and Northern Lights, but the aurora is never guaranteed.

You’ll ride two people per snowmobile through Ylläs’s snowy forests with a Finnish or English-speaking local guide. Transfers, winter gear, insurance, berry juice, and Lapland-made Gold Bar chocolate are included. The aurora is never guaranteed, but the night ride remains the main event.

You’ll ride a snowcat about 15 minutes each way from Ylläs Ski Resort to Ylläskammi restaurant at the top of Ylläs fell. A Finnish or English-speaking driver leads the trip. At the restaurant, enjoy a welcome drink and buffet of Lappish dishes, then watch the sky for northern lights.
“The staff in the Yllaskammi 718 restaurant were friendly. The buffet meal was a soup, starter buffet and main of either sauted reindeer or salmon with mashed potatoes and root veg. There was also a selection of cheese and a small mousse like dessert. The food was nice and plenty of it but not amazing. Ideally there needed another waiter as staff were very busy. The highlight was being lucky enough to go outside in the dark and see the northen lights. The snowcat ride up and down was unpleasant, 25 people crammed in like sardines and no view as the windows were frozen. Yllaskammi 718 is lovely day or…”
